Best way to prepare for SBI and IBPS PO Quant section.

Banking exams quant syllabus can be divided in three types:
  1. Questions asked in GROUPS OF 5 (15 marks)
  2. Data Interpretation (10 marks)
  3. Arithmetic (10 marks)
Let me explain about each type in detail:
  1. GROUP OF 5: Contains questions on Equations, Number series, Approximation and Simplification. To solve these questions you don’t have to read lengthy statements like arithmetic section. You just know what to do and have to find the solution straight away on seeing the question. So these should be first target to prepare and attempt for. First you should gain mastery over these topics by practice and then should practise 5 questions of each type daily. You must try to score approx. 12 from this type. These questions will take less time so these should be your first target to attempt.
  2. DATA INTERPRETATION: In this type you have to answer 5 questions based on some data given. You have to understand the data clearly and then answer all the questions. If you know basics of Percentage, Ratio and proportion, Average and Profit and loss very well, then you can do these questions in less time. So key for DI is that understand the basics of these question clearly. These must be targeted to prepare and attempt after first type (Group of 5).
  3. ARITHMETIC: First of all you must do Percentage, Profit and loss, Interest, Ratio and proportion and Average because then you will be able to attempt DI and also some questions from this section. And in my opinion remaining topics of arithmetic should be last target as for each question of arithmetic you need to red a separate lengthy statement. And almost 12 chapters cover just 10 marks. So this portion become time taking while preparing and attempting both.
Summing up: By doing these 10 chapters (Percentage, Profit and loss, Interest, Ratio and proportion, Average, Equations, Number series, Approximation, Simplification and DI) you will cover syllabus for approx 28 marks out of 35 in quant section. To practice questions you can buy Previous Year Question Chapter wise by Kiran Parkashan. (Buy it) Hope this helped you.
